The UEFA Champions League semi-finals are here. Winning the European Cup is the ultimate objective in club football and all four teams will be quietly confident of lifting the trophy in Kyiv on May 26th.

Liverpool, led by 2017/18 PFA Player of the Year Mohamed Salah, are well placed to secure a first leg lead over Roma at Anfield on Tuesday evening whilst defending champions Real Madrid could shock Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena. Check out our best bets on this week’s Champions League action below…

Jurgen Klopp’s side have been in sublime form; it would be foolish to bet against Liverpool on current form.

The Reds are primed to reach the Champions League final for the first time since 2007 and Liverpool are the value bet to win the competition at 23/10. Roma will need to be at their very best to keep tabs on this Liverpool attacking unit.

Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino make up Liverpool’s front three – you’d be hard pressed to find a more exciting and dangerous attack in world football.

With a combined 83 goals between them, Liverpool’s main men could run rot again here and that is why I’ll be backing the hosts to score in both halves at 11/10.

Roma are no slouches though and this should make for an exciting affair. The Italian outfit produced one of the great Champions League performances in the quarter-finals, coming from 4-1 down in the first leg to defeat FC Barcelona.

The visitors will need to keep tabs on Liverpool on Tuesday night; expecting another miracle on home soil would be unwise.

Much has been said of Salah’s return to the Italian capital and the Reds forward could play a key role for Liverpool on Tuesday night.

Taking a solid lead into the second leg is important and Klopp knows it – Salah is well priced at 6/1 to score AND provide an assist for one of his teammates. That would be my ‘special’ tip for this contest.

TIP: Liverpool to score in both halves @ 11/10

CORRECT SCORE: Liverpool 3-1 AS Roma (Priced at 19/2 with 888sport)

SPECIAL: Mo Salah to score and provide an assist @ 6/1

Bayern Munich vs REAL MADRID

On paper, this is the more competitive semi-final. It is actually rather difficult to split the two clubs; Bayern are Germany’s dominant force whilst Real Madrid have a unique affinity with the European Cup.

The hosts will head into this one as favourites at 26/25 but I like the 41/50 for Real to avoid defeat in the Allianz Arena.

Bayern recently clinched the Bundesliga crown but attention is now entirely on this double header with Madrid.

The Bavarians don’t have a very good record in this fixture; they’ve lost their last three competitive matches against Real – two of those coming on home soil. Jupp Heynckes will have his troops fired up and ready to go though and this is a tough one to call.

The Champions League has been Cristiano Ronaldo’s playground this season.

With 15 goals in the competition, he is seven clear of Firmino in the Golden Boot race and punters will be expecting the Portuguese to add to his tally here. European football fans won’t be forgetting THAT overhead kick against Juventus for a while…

Neutrals will be hoping that both teams go for the jugular and we could be in for a hatful of goals. As a special bet, I like the 11/2 available with 888sport for Real Madrid to be awarded a penalty.

Los Blancos were handed an injury-time penalty against Juventus in the quarter-final and another spot kick could be on the cards in this fixture.

TIP: Real Madrid to win OR draw @ 41/50

CORRECT SCORE: Bayern Munich 1-2 Real Madrid (Priced at 10/1 with 888sport)

SPECIAL: Away team to be awarded a penalty @ 11/2
