Watford will travel to Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon for a tough clash with Chelsea and Marco Silva’s men will be full of confidence after recent results.
The Hornets produced an impressive come-from-behind victory to get past Arsenal earlier this month and another major performance against one of England’s elite clubs could be on the cards.
Chelsea slipped up at home against Roma in the Champions League on Wednesday night but Antonio Conte will do his best to keep the Blues motivated and focused on retaining the top flight crown.
The defending Premier League champions are a 16/1 shot in 888sport’s betting markets and a hard-fought victory over Watford may spur Chelsea on in their pursuit of glory.
Chelsea Struggling To Get Over The Line
Chelsea have won just one of their last four home matches in all competitions but Blues fans will be expecting a much improved effort on Saturday afternoon.
Conte will be concerned at Chelsea’s struggles in recent times and rightly so; the Premier League title holders have kept just two clean sheets so far this campaign...
Alvaro Morata has been an instant hit at Stamford Bridge and the Spain international could be set to make another major impact this weekend.
As of October 19th, 888sport customers can back Morata at 5/2 to open the scoring – he certainly stands a decent chance of getting his name on the scoresheet against Watford.
The Blues have been far from assured defensively in recent weeks and while I fancy Chelsea to win, Watford will be confident of scoring at least once.
Silva’s side are on the verge of something special but this may be a step too far. At 2/1, Chelsea to win with both teams to score looks well worth a punt.
Watford Have Been Solid So Far This Season
Shame on those who wrote Silva and Watford off at the start of the campaign. Some fans were sceptical after Hull City’s struggles last term but the Portuguese has adjusted quickly to life at Vicarage Road.
With positive results against Arsenal and Liverpool already under their belt, the Hornets are well placed to push on and secure a top half finish this season.
Watford’s away record speaks volumes for how impressive the Hornets have been in recent months.
Silva, renowned for his fantastic individual record on home soil, has led Watford to four successive away fixtures without defeat; three wins and one draw. They are yet to face one of the Premier League’s bigger boys on the road though and this will be their toughest test yet.
I can see Watford causing Chelsea a few issues upfront, particularly from set-pieces. Conte will be wary of a potential setback after Chelsea’s recent struggles but a clean sheet looks unlikely.
Both teams to score is available at 17/20; an appealing price considering Watford’s efforts so far this season. It won’t be easy but Silva’s men could well spring a shock.
The 2/1 for Chelsea to win with both teams scoring is my pick of the betting markets ahead of this contest. Conte’s men are in dire need of a victory but the Hornets will offer stern resistance – it should be a tough contest.
But class will prevail eventually and the Blues may emerge victorious in the latter stages. If Morata and Hazard get going early on, this could get ugly for Watford.
CHELSEA 2-1 Watford (Priced at 7/1 with 888sport)
