Gary Anderson is 3/1 to heap more misery on Michael van Gerwen as the regular Premier League season reaches its conclusion at the GE Oil & Gas Arena in Aberdeen on Thursday night.

The world number one has struggled to maintain his exceptional standards in previous weeks, winning only two of his last five matches in the competition.

The Dutchman appeared out of sorts in Sheffield last week, losing 7-3 to Phil Taylor, and was then whitewashed by Peter Wright 6-0 in the European Darts Grand Prix final on Sunday.

Things will not get any easier for Van Gerwen, one point ahead of Wright in the race for the £25,000 league winner's bonus, as he faces Anderson in his own back yard in a repeat of this year's World Championship final.

The Scot has turned his form around in recent outings, winning three of his last four matches, and is capable of heaping more misery on Van Gerwen ahead of next week's play-offs.

Wright will be ready to take advantage if Van Gerwen suffers another slip-up, like he has done in recent weeks, as he faces already-eliminated Raymond van Barneveld.

Wright and Van Barneveld have drawn four of their six Premier League meetings, with another 6-6 scoreline priced at 7-2, but the former is in excellent form and is expected to record a comfortable victory, possibly 7-3 at 7/1 or 7-4 at 4/1.

Fourth-placed Taylor could already be through by the time he plays Adrian Lewis as Dave Chisnall faces struggling James Wade in the night's opener in Scotland.

Chisnall, unbeaten in his last six matches, is two points and 10 legs adrift of Taylor.

He requires a big win to heap the pressure on the 16-time world champion and a 7-2 scoreline over Wade can be backed at 6/1.

Taylor is 4/5 to condemn Lewis to a fifth consecutive defeat and head to the O2 next week in confident mood.
