Celebrating the New Year, the NFL enters the postseason on the 6th with the Wild Card stage, swiftly followed by the Divisional Playoff round (13th-14th), Conference Championships (21st), and the Pro Bowl (28th). Staying state-side, kind of, the NBA comes to London, with the Philadelphia 76ers playing the Boston Celtics on the 11th.
The tennis season gets underway with the Australian Open on the 15th, coming quickly after the fifth and final Ashes test in Sydney on the 4th. Of course, there’s plenty of top Premier League games to watch, with Arsenal taking on Chelsea on the 1st, Liverpool versus Manchester City on the 13th, and Spurs versus Manchester United on the last day of the month (31st).
We’ve got two finals from two different footballs in February. The NFL’s Super Bowl LII takes place on the 4th in Minnesota’s new state-of-the-art stadium – for which the New England Patriots are early favourites to win for a second successive year at 19/4.
Also, the first piece of major silverware in the English football league finds a victor, with the Carabao Cup final on the 25th. The Premier League also sees big games between Spurs and Arsenal (10th) as well as Manchester United and Chelsea (24th).
What a glorious month March is, hosting the first of the major horse racing meets in the UK. The glorious Cheltenham Festival gets underway in mid-March, and the MLB starts up again on the 29th.
There’s a tantalising fixture over in Italy on the 4th with AC hosting Inter in the Derby di Milano. Back in the Premier League, Manchester City will look to further their title credentials against Chelsea (3rd). The brutal rivalry – although it has been a bit stale of late – between Manchester United and Liverpool reignites (10th) and Chelsea host Spurs for another London Derby (31st).
Prepare yourself for a busy month of sports betting in April. Both the Checkatrade Trophy final (8th) and the Copa del Rey final (21st) will take place, as well as a mega derby day in the Premier League on the 7th, seeing both the Merseyside and Manchester derbies battled out.
The NHL playoffs get underway on the 11th, with the NBA postseason starting up on the 14th. The Indian Premier League kicks off on the 4th, which always produces exciting Twenty20 action, and this is the month highlighted by boxer Tyson Fury as being his target for a return to the ring. The former world champion is already listed at 5/4 to defeat Anthony Joshua in a potential scrap.
It’s a gambler’s delight when it comes to the horse racing, with the Grand National (early April), Scottish Grand National (mid-April), and Jump Finale (late April) all trotting in.
This is the month of finals, including the Europa League final in Lyon (16th), FA Cup final (19th), Champions League final in Kyiv (26th), Championship playoff final (26th), League One playoff final (27th), and League Two playoff final (28th).
13th May sees the last day of the Premier League season, but at least there’ll be the French Open (28th) to get stuck into.
The World Cup is finally here! The first game of the tournament will feature the hosts, Russia, on the 14th, with the rest of the Group Stage games playing out until the Round of 16 starts on the 30th.
Around the same time as the start of the World Cup, Royal Ascot will get underway...
July sees the business end of the World Cup, with the Quarterfinals (6th-7th), Semifinals (10th-11th), Third-place Playoff (14th) and the greatest of all sporting stages, the World Cup Final, taking place on the 15th.
Likely while the World Cup is still in play, the T20 Blast in the UK gets underway, as well as the Goodwood horse racing festival later on in the month. The 3rd to the 16thsees tennis’ classiest event take place: Wimbledon.
